Big Week

As most of you will know, Futurecop is playing in Melbz on the 12th of June, then The Teenagers are playing on the 13th.
Now I find out Le Castle Vania is playing at Pogo on the 19th! Holy Crap!
His remix of Snowden's Black Eyes is pretty much the perfect song in my eyes, if only all remixes were this good... if only.

Check out his MYSPACE for the rest of his tour dates.

PS. say GEE WIZZ at the door for cheaper entry

We've posted so much Teenagers shit up here (check them by clicking the 'The Teenagers' tag at the bottom of this post), so here is an old demo that didn't make it onto the album. It's called Selflove and about... well... wanking. How can you not love The Teenagers?

The Teenagers // Self Love

Public Displays of Affection

Bonjour. Gee Wizz were lucky enough to be included in tremendous French music and culture online hub Street Kiss's now famous World's Best Blogs Playlist.

At the beginning of the year they brought out the Early 2008 World Best Blog Playlist with entries from the likes of Kidz By Collette, Pardon My Freedom and Monsier P.

This time they expanded their field to include their favourite international blogs, and we were one of the very proud 13 to be invited to put in our selection for The Love Spring 2008 World Best Blog Playlist!

Included in the Playlist are selections from international uberblogs Boule a Facettes, Buffet Libre, and Get Weird Turn Pro. Selections include tunes from Booka Shade, Pnau, Mark Ronson, MGMT and Fred Falke, along with the Gee Wizz selection (definitely the best of them all!).

Any guesses to what it is?
Here's a hint, it encapsulates the feeling of Young Love in Spring for us.

Now go over to Streetkiss to check it out on the playlist! Bisous.

P.S. Thank you Streetkiss for the love and recognition. We are especially proud to be the only blog from Australia!

Who's Your Daddy?

This is the aftermath of the last time Gee Wizz dj'd. Old papi Haynes couldn't handle his shit. Well guess what...

GEE WIZZ DJ'z @ le Fashion Keyboard
FRIDAY (im in love) APRIL 11th

HOTTER THAN JONATHAN TAYLOR THOMAS CIRCA 1995

School's Out

School is out for Easter, and if you're as lucky as me, after being back only a few weeks, you have a weeks break! So what are you doing with your (Good) Friday off??? We have a brilliant idea for you... Recovering! (Something Macaulay's career never did.)

Because on (Great) Thursday night school is in for Melburnians, with Grafton Primary performing live at Pogo for us. The whole Gee Wizz crew will be down for a reunion after persuing our individual endeavours for a while, and you should be too! Use the Gee Wizz guestlist to make sure you're in, and in cheap. Also grab a copy of the Goldfrapp album giveaway. If you need a lift call Basar.

So onto the school in question - Grafton Primary. The lads from Sydney made a big splash on the blogosphere with their exceptional 'I Can Cook' (brilliantly remixed by Monsieur Horror as well, who is building up a huuuge repertoire of killer remixes, the newest being Fa Fa Fa). Their style is basically an amalgamation of all that was good in the eighties, with New Romantic and New Wave synth pop influences eminent.

I've never seen them live before, though I've heard they're quite the barnstorming live act, so do yourself a favour and join us there. And if you need more convincing (as if you do, we just like to spoil you), below are a couple more reasons why you should be going to Primary on your school holidays.

Grafton Primary - Relativity

Grafton Primary - Change

P.S. Their new EP 'Relativity' is out now, and you could and should get it from (here or here, or itunes). Or else you need to go back to school.

Lock up your daughters

A while back Nick announced that Futurecop! was planning an Australian tour, but no dates had been confirmed as yet.

Well folks here they are...

7 June - Trashbags, Sydney

8 June - First Kiss, Queensland

12 June - Pogo, Melbourne (say GEE WIZZ at the door for cheap entry)

14 June - Kill The Radio, Sydney

15 June - Moulin Rouge, Sydney

It looks like they will also be playing a gig on 13 June (which is a Friday, unlucky for some) but is yet to be announced.

So you won't have to wait to catch Futurecop! too long in the future.

Futurecop! - Youngstar (feat. Dizzee Rascal)

Welcome Back Mikey!

A big welcome back to our long lost pharmacist Mike! He has been lying on Thai beaches for the last 2 weeks, a trip which was funded by the success of Gee Wizz and the Pharmacists business endeavours (this music blog included... cha ching). Here is a tribute to our hirsute hero.

OMG

This picture is an exact recreation of what we here at Gee Wizz looked liked when we found out that Danger is playing this Friday night at Fashion Keyboard in Melbourne .

The only thing that would have been cooler is if we were playing as well but i doubt we will ever get asked to dj there again!

I have to work on Saturday but there is no way I'm letting that ruin what will be a great night, so come on down to 189 Lonsdale St this Friday, its free entry and cheeaaapp drinks, and if you have to work on Saturday as well i might just buy you a drink and slap you a high 5. Woo!

People in glass houses...

Fuck them! Let's talk about people in Crystal Castles... they are visiting Gee Wizz here in Melbourne town! All of us in Gee Wizz love these guys and their innovative icy cold 8-bit synth sound, and all of us have different favourite songs... pretty much because they are all that and a bag of potato chips - both their productions and their remixes. Crystal Castles will only be playing at Gee Wizz endorsed Streetparty events whilst in Melbourne (besides the Meredith festival), exclusively at Pogo at Geddes Lane on the 20th of December, then on the 22nd at Click Click... you can buy tickets from us, so let us know and book it in children!

Here are our favourites:
Nic - Crystal Castles - Loving & Caring (7inch) (zshare)
Jesse - Goodbooks - Leni (Crystal Castles Rmx)
Mike - Crystal Castles vs Health - Crime Wave
Liz Satincrack Sweetcheeks Houston Shoegazer - Crystal Castles - Alice Practice (Futurecop Rmx)

Play that funky music white boy

So Friday saw the first ever DJ set by Gee Wizz at Fashion Keyboard, we played from 2-3 and considering how much we had drunk before hand, played pretty well!

Yeah we had a couple of hick ups but that was over shadowed by our awesome taste in music.
